Picnic Gear

So it's Memorial Day, and I'd like to just give a HUGE thank you to everyone who gave their lives for our country.  I'm very thankful that all my relatives who have served have made it home safely.  I know that everyone is not as lucky though, and my heart goes out to everyone who has lost a loved one in the military.

Memorial Day often marks the unofficial beginning of cookout and picnic season, so today for Must-Have Monday, I thought I'd share some awesome items to take on picnics.

Pic-a-nic

Picnic Basket - $34.96 - Pier 1 Imports
I really like this picnic basket.  The dark espresso color is a fresh take on the classic picnic basket, while the gingham lining keeps a bit of the nostalgia.  I also really like that there's a shoulder strap.

Picnic Beverage Stake - $19 - Pottery Barn
This beverage stake is brilliant for picnics.  The ground can be really uneven, so trying to balance wine glasses can be awful.  This eliminates the need to balance, and gives you a place to keep the wine bottle.  Not a bad deal, if you ask me.

Yellow Picnic Cooler - $62.95 - Crate & Barrel
So this cooler is expensive, and a bit unnecessary, but I really wanted to include it because it's SO STINKING CUTE.  Also, there's a bottle opener on it, which is handy.

Blue Stripe "Zip and Carry" Picnic Blanket - $19.99 - Target
This blanket looks so cute and comfortable.  A good picnic blanket is something Tom and I need.  Our picnics tend to be kind of spur-of-the-moment, so we usually just end up grabbing whatever we find in the car (last time, it was Archie's car blanket).

Fox Run Mesh Food Cover - $12.99 - Bed, Bath and Beyond
This mesh food cover looks really stable and like it would definitely keep bugs out, and if there's one thing bugs like, it's a picnic.  The sleek design also adds a bit of class to a picnic, if you're into that sort of thing.

  1. I especially love that beverage stake. If it were legal I'd total picnic at the park with one of those and some wine. :)

    1. Isn't it brilliant? My husband doesn't drink, so we never bring wine on picnics, but I think it might do well for other beverages too (and there's nothing wrong with drinking regular drinks in fancy glasses!)

    2. Also, I didn't realize this was you when I wrote this (obviously you know Tom), but as soon as I looked at your blog I knew it was my Baneenee! So glad you've started a blog!
