Last Minute Halloween CostumesWednesday, October 31, 2012
Now I know that there are some of you out there who tend to procrastinate. In fact, you're probably reading this on November 1. For those of you who are reading on Halloween and still looking for a costume, you've come to the right place.
The way I see it, super easy last-minute costumes can be broken down into two categories: sweats, and normal clothing. Let's see what we can come up with, shall we?
Costumes Using Sweats
When I say sweats, I am, of course referring to a sweatshirt and sweatpants. They come in every color, can be purchased at stores like Walmart year-round, will keep you warm since it's freezing outside, and can be the base of pretty much a gazillion costumes.
Costume details can be added with felt (or another fabric), paper, paint, or markers.
-candy cane (white or red sweats, red or white tape for stripes)
-cat (sweats, felt or paper cat ears, painted whiskers)
-crayon (any color sweats, stripes and 'CRAYON' added)
-dog (sweats, if you have long hair put it in pigtails)
-grapes (purple or green sweats, pin on purple or green balloons)
-jellybeans (white sweats, a big clear trash bag full of small colorful balloons)
-ladybug (red sweats, black spots, pipe cleaner antennae if you want)
-m&m (m&m-colored sweats, white m on stomach)
-pumpkin (orange sweats, black facial features for a jack-o-lantern, green pipe cleaner stem)
-Rudolph (tan/brown sweats, pipe cleaner ears, red nose) -- no joke, I was seriously Rudolph for Halloween when I was eight.
-sky (blue sweats with cotton ball clouds)
-snowman (white sweats with button details, a scarf, a black hat, nose painted orange)
Costumes Using Normal Clothes
There are SO many options when it comes to costumes made from the contents of your closet (or whatever you can get at Goodwill or another thrift store). Dress like Liz Lemon! Dress like Kelly Kapowski! Between the media and your clothes, there are all sorts of costumes you can come up with. Here are just a few options.
- baby (footie or 2-pc pajamas, a bib, a pacifier, a stuffed animal, a blanket)
-Barbie/one of Barbie's friends (pink clothes, perfect hair, too much makeup)
-Charlie Brown (yellow shirt with black chevron stripes added, black shorts)
-hippie (bell bottom jeans, tie-dyed shirt, fringed vest, love beads)
-nerd (pants that are too short, white short-sleeved button down, suspenders, optional bow tie, pocket protector, pens, calculator, glasses with tape on the middle)
-prom queen (formal dress, tiara, optional sash and bouquet)
-Punky Brewster (long-sleeved shirt under a t-shirt, vest or jacket with the sleeves cut off, jeans with one leg rolled up, different colored socks, 2 different sneakers, pigtails)
