Wait, Somebody Carved That?!?!

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

I  don't know if you've noticed this, but there are some really freaking cool pumpkins floating around the interwebs.  I compiled some of my favorites to commemorate the eve of my own pumpkin carving (which is slated for tomorrow).

Carving pumpkins has turned into an art form, and a pretty awesome one at that.

I thought this hamburger pumpkin (carving skills not required, as long as you can slice something in half!) was fun and clever.

I really like the use of simple carved lines for definition on these Hello Kitty and Spiderman pumpkins.

I've always been a fan of nerdy character pumpkins, and I think these Mario and Pokemon pumpkins are superb examples of how to do it awesomely (check out that amazing detail on the Rapidash pumpkin!).

You know what really impresses me though?  The pumpkins that aren't just carved, but the shell is carved off too, so you're left with a thin wall of flesh.  How amazing are these?!?!

Seriously, how freaking awesome is this?

So much beautiful detail!
This picture (which I first saw on Pinterest) is the inspiration for my pumpkin this year:

Yes, these are watermelons.  But I actually have a green pumpkin :)  I only have one, so I'm planning to do Michaelangelo (my favorite).  It's going to be awesome.  I hope.
