My Workout WearThursday, March 28, 2013
So having been using my workout clothes for a couple of weeks now, I feel confident in recommending them.
I already had some shoes (which you may have seen if you follow me on Instagram) that I had previously purchased at TJ Maxx for a steal (hurrah for past season shoes!). Unfortunately, since they are last season, I haven't been able to find them ANYWHERE on the internet, so the shoes here aren't my actual shoes. They kind of look similar though. Mine have a hotter, reddish/orangier pink (about the same color as the shirt, actually) and orange, with pink laces. I really like them, and they're really comfortable. They provide good support.
If you're a long-time reader of my blog, you've probably figured out by now that I LOVE Old Navy. There are a few reasons for this. The clothes are (mostly) cute, the prices aren't (usually) ridiculous, they have a lot of sales, and, most importantly, the clothes fit me, which is a big deal. I knew when I was searching for some athletic wear that Old Navy would be my first stop (and I just happened to stumble upon a sale, so doubleplusbonus for me!).
I knew I wanted to check out compression pants. I was going to get the actual, full-length compression pants (because let's be real here -- I hate shaving my legs), but they didn't have any in my size. So I got the compression capris instead (mine are black, and not this heathered gray/charcoal color, but they didn't have them on the website). They hold everything in (I don't feel like I'm jiggling all over the place) and make me look a little (I think) slimmer.
I was in desperate need of a new sports bra. The only one I had was really old, and the elastic was so loose on it that my boobs weren't really where they were supposed to be. I ended up going with this padded sports bra (even though I don't need padding) because it looked like it provided more coverage than the other sports bras they had in the store, and when it comes to a sports bra, that's kind of important for me. I want to be as supported as possible, because otherwise my boobs are just flying everywhere and it hurts (I know some of you can relate!). This bra keeps my boobs firmly in place, whether I'm on the treadmill, the elliptical, or the bike. I like the padding too, because I have nipples that like to stand at attention (TMI? Perhaps. But I know I'm not the only one.), and it helps keep them under wraps.
I absolutely loved that they had options other than tank tops available. While I enjoy a good tank top, and often wear them around the house, I was already nervous enough about the gym without having my arm flab flapping around everywhere. This shirt has some strategically-placed mesh to help air you out a bit, and I must say, it works!
All the Old Navy active wear pieces I have really do wick moisture away from my body. I can get really sweaty (especially on the elliptical, my mortal enemy), and the only place I ever actually feel sweat is on my face, because my clothes wick it away from everywhere else. Granted, my shirt tends to smell really sweaty afterwards, but I'm not drenched in sweat, which is awesome.
I highly recommend any of these pieces to anyone looking for some good clothes to break a sweat in!
