New Year, New Blog (Sort Of)

Happy 2014, friends! Am I the only one who feels like 2013 flew by?

Obviously, there have been some changes around here. Major changes.

Namely, the blog name (pun totally intended).

Good Girl Gone Wife was good to me. It was fun (if a bit of a mouthful), and although Tom thinks it sounds like a porno, several readers loved it. It had been GGGW for about two and a half years (the original title, for a month or two, was Bright Blue Sun), so it might seem a little odd that I've changed it now. I have my reasons.

I love being a wife. I love Tom, and knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with him by my side is something I'm grateful for every day. However, the fact that I'm his wife (or just a wife in general) doesn't define me. Yes, I'm a wife, but I'm more than a wife. I was my own person before I became a wife, and I'm still my own person. A person that is a wife, yes, but also a person that is a daughter/granddaughter/sister/aunt/niece/furmama, teacher, photographer, writer, gamer, lover of biscuits and gravy, etc. I'm multifaceted. Good Girl Gone Wife wasn't expressing that the way I wanted I guess. Plus, I was never really that attached to it in the first place. I came up with it on a whim.

But now we get to the question that I'm sure at least a couple of you are wondering -- why Bergalicious?

One of my nicknames from my younger days (coined by my BFF Katie, and then appropriated by a couple of my other very dear friends) is Bergie, which is based on my middle name. Keep in mind that I was in school when the Black Eyed Peas were really getting big, and after Fergie released "Fergalicious", the Bergalicious thing started (much to my chagrin). Eventually, I grew to be less begrudging toward it, and when it came time to pick a new name for GGGW, it seemed like a good choice. It's part of who I am, just like the blog.

And so here we are.

The old URL, www.goodgirlgonewife.com, will no longer get you here; bergaliciousblog.blogspot.com will though :)

A few other changes have happened as well.

In a previous post about getting back to my blog roots, I mentioned some changes in the way I wanted to handle things. One of those things was that I wouldn't be doing sponsored posts anymore. I hate to seem like I'm backpedaling, but I have decided to be open to them again. Unfortunately, our finances have taken a turn for the worse in the last few months, and if I can help support my family at all through the blog, I will. That said, I will be selective about what kinds of sponsored posts I'll accept; like, I won't be shilling cucumbers because I think cucumbers are gross (though, oddly enough, I do like pickles). And I promise, most posts will definitely NOT be sponsored (and the opportunity to do a sponsored post may not even come up). I just wanted to be honest about that.

I will not be actively seeking sponsorships at this time. It really didn't go so well for me the first time around. Let's be real here: my blog is not that important in the blogosphere (that word kind of really gets on my nerves, btw). I was trying too hard to be something I'm not. If someone wants to sponsor me, I'm open to being contacted about it, but I'm not going to be like "HEY Y'ALL, SPONSORSHIPS ARE HALF OFF THIS MONTH!" because my blog isn't big enough to command interest like that. I was being completely delusional before. I will, however, accept swaps :)

Things look different, obviously. It's not entirely finished; there are still a few things I want to add and tweak. I'm learning some coding in my spare time, so it's an ongoing process. The changes will be subtle (that's the plan, anyway), but I figured I'd give you a heads up now. I decided that the blog had been down too long, and that it was better to open the mostly-finished version than to just leave it down for who knows how much longer.

The about page and my blogroll have been updated.

Several of my social media handles/URLs have changed:
      -Bergalicious Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BergaliciousBlog)
-my Twitter handle (@TheAlexBGreen -- I'll admit the "The" part sounds a little presumptuous, but everything else name-related was taken)
-my Instagram name (@alliepants06, just like my Pinterest has always been)

As before, I don't know how often I'll be posting. I might post every day, I might not post for a month. It really all depends on whether or not I have something that's not completely insipid that I want to talk about.

If you've stuck it out with me for this long (what with my three months of not posting, and whatnot), thank you. It means more to me that you actually are interested in what I have to say than you will ever know.

If you happen to just be joining me on this journey, welcome! It's not always pleasant, and it's not always fun, but it's always me.

I'm Bergalicious (but I ain't promiscuous).

    1. Thanks :) It's good to be back! As for the cucumber/pickle thing, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Every time someone hears that, they look at me like I'm crazy. I just really don't like the taste of cucumbers (they smell kind of good though).

  2. So glad your back. I was just thinking the other day that I should email you since I tried visiting and it was set to private. Blogging is hard. Hence my multiple blog name changes and the fact my blog is still tiny. LOL.

    1. Yeah, I'd had it down to make changes for a few weeks. I kept getting distracted by Skyrim :) And yeah, blogging can definitely be hard. I'm trying to not let it be, but we'll see how that goes, lol.
