And Then There Were Four...

I knew it had been a while since I had posted, but I had no idea that it's been almost three months! At first, it seemed a little crazy to me, but when I thought about everything that's happened in the past few months, I realized that it's a lot easier to believe than I originally thought. I have so much that I want to share with you, but there is one thing that's the most important of all.

On November 17th, we adopted our boys!

Jamie and Nolie are actually Eric and Jeffery; their nicknames stemmed from what their middle names now are (they're named after my grandfathers). We do regularly call Jeffery Nolie though; it was my grandfather Noel's aunt's nickname for him. His nickname for her, Nonnie, is what my mom chose for her grandma name, so the two of them get to be Nonnie and Nolie 2.0. I was very close to my grandfather (I've always had a close relationship with all of my grandparents, actually), but he died in 1995, so this kind of helps me feel a little closer to him all these years later.

We were blessed to have many of our loved ones there with us as we officially became a family: my mom and stepdad, my dad and stepmom, my Granny, our dear friend James and his daughters, and my friend Hallie, who introduced us to Eric and got the ball rolling to eventually have them enter our home, lives, and hearts. The boys didn't really understand what was going on, but they were pretty stoked because the judge gave them suckers and DCS workers gave them bags and balloons. We went out to lunch afterward, and my brother Ian was able to stop by for a bit before he had to get back to work, so that was an awesome surprise.

This is the photo taken of us at the courthouse after the adoption was finalized. My children, despite being completely adorable and having dimples for days, generally do not like to cooperate for the camera. In this case, Eric was way more into the aforementioned sucker than having his photo taken. Also, I did not realize until now just how ridiculous that sweater looked with that dress. I also did not think that my sneakers would be showing in any photos. At this point, I might as well just own that I am a hot mess.

We are so incredibly happy to officially be their parents. I can't wait to see where this journey takes us as they grow!
