Hello, 2017!Monday, January 02, 2017
2016 was a whirlwind of a year, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been eagerly awaiting 2017.
I know, of course, that changes can (and should!) be made at any point throughout the year. However, there is just something about a new year that makes change seem more attractive. A new year means new opportunities to start fresh. It feels like a chance to become the best you that you've ever been.
With that in mind, I had been thinking a lot in the past few weeks about what one word I want my 2017 to embody. What word did I want to be my guide? What word did I want to aspire to? What word did I want to serve as my mantra for the year.
It may sound a bit trite, but ultimately, I settled on "gratitude".
I have a LOT to be grateful for, but I often find myself dwelling on what I don't have in my life, and I want to change that.
My gratitude goals for this year are to take better stock of the many things I have to be grateful for, to approach everything I do with a grateful heart, and to make sure to show gratitude to those who most deserve it. I have a feeling that if I can improve in these areas, it will spill over into other parts of my life. And really, who doesn't want to be happier?
So, hi there, 2017. I'm glad to see you.
Let's do this.
